Baby food finds formula for new product success
Today’s working mothers baby their babies (and themselves) with premium infant food in convenient, single-serve portions. * Who should be served, the baby or its parents? Baby food producers take both of these consumers into consideration when they develop a new product. The packaging, formulation, and price may appeal to the parent who purchases the item, but it’s the taste that must appeal to the infant.
Baby food took a giant leap in new product development last year. According to Gorman’s New Product News, baby food makers introduced 10 new products in 1987 and a whopping 55 in 1988.
